Made possible the testing of all Sexual Assault Cold Case Rape Kits through the SAKI Initiative.
Born from the Domestic Violence Coalition, Raise the Bar partnered with the Pima County Attorney’s Office, the Pima County Sherriff’s Department and Tucson Police Department to secure a $2M U.S. Department of Justice grant to back test all cold case rape kits at all law enforcement agencies in Pima County. The project funded DNA testing, FBI CODIS entry, new detectives for cold case follow up, a dedicated prosecutor, and additional advocates to support survivors. As a result of this transformational project, rapists, including serial rapists, have been identified and brought to justice.
